Details:

We are receiving reports that some users are having issues connecting to Office 365 via Outlook. Microsoft has reported that they are having issues with some servers and they are working on correcting the problem. Users that are unable to access their mailbox via one Outlook should attempt to use Outlook Web App instead.

Updates:

8/20/2015 6:07:55 PM:
Microsoft has indicated that the issue is resolved and they are monitoring it to make sure that services remain balanced.

Current Status: Engineers have finished rebalancing active service load across the infrastructure and are monitoring service availability to ensure complete impact remediation. User Experience: Affected users are unable to connect to the Exchange Online service when using multiple protocols including Outlook, Outlook Web App (OWA), Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), and Exchange Web Services (EWS). Customer Impact: While some customers have confirmed their organization is affected by this issue, analysis indicates that the scope of customers experiencing impact related to this event appears to be limited. Preliminary Root Cause: A small portion of capacity which stores mailboxes became degraded due to high resource utilization. The underlying root cause of the high resource utilization is under investigation.

Problem Resolution: 

IT personnel are investigating the problem. No estimated time for correction of the problem is currently available.

Medium -- (affects a substantial portion of campus and/or applications used by them) – Updated every 2 hours

Low -- (affects or minimal portion of campus and/or has minimal impact on applications used on campus) – Updated every 4 hours

None -- (minimal to no urgency associated with resolving the incident/event) – Will update when resolved.
