Who is affected?

Customers using UW Guest wireless network

Problem:

Issues on the firewall

Systems Involved:

Network

Details:

A recent change to routing on the campus firewall to accommodate the h.323 workaround removed the ability to hairpin nat on the firewall. A hairpin NAT is a connection from the internal network to a public facing server. This has caused issues with UWguest wireless access to our public web servers, and has caused problems with incorrectly configured domains.

Updates:

3/3/2015 10:27:27 PM:
The Security office has implemented a workaround that will allow web sites hosted on external DNS servers to work. We are still investigating a permanent solution.

Problem Resolution:

UWGuest wireless networks now have access to public UW resources.
