Who is affected?

Users who print to PrintPress printers using non-Windows devices (Mac/Linux Operating Systems) who have set up LPR/LPD printing.

Because of a need to strengthen security and printing services, Information Technology will disable the ability of individuals to use LPR/LPD printing to PrintPress printers.

Problem resolution:

As an alternative to LPR/LPD printing, individuals can use SMB printing for Mac and Linux instead. Instructions on how to print to a PrintPress printer from Mac OS X can be found in the Printing section at www.uwyo.edu/AskIT.
