Who is affected?

Users attempting to access the UW computer network and the Internet from several campus locations.

More details:

At start of business today, Monday, November 22nd, IT was aware of problems with network connectivity in several campus locations including Knight Hall, Cheney Int. Studies/Student Health, Merica Hall, Hoyt Hall, Ag. and Education bldgs.

Problem resolution:

IT personnel worked to correct multiple network problems and restored normal network service by 1:35 pm, Monday, November 22nd.

Updated 11/23, 12:15 PM:
IT has found a bug in the switching and routing software used for the campus network. Some client computers were unable to obtain an IP address via DHCP and so IT clients were unable to access the network. IT has put a workaround in place that bypasses the bug and once again allows client computers to obtain an IP address via DHCP. The campus network is now functioning properly and is stable.
